Coach Durkan has revitalized the New York Athletic Club's Sabre program taking it from four fencers competing nationally in 2008 to the 50 plus competitive athletes currently involved in the program.
This year at Summer nationals three fencers medaled including the silver in Y14 MS as well as many making junior and cadet points.
Our Winter and Pre-Summer National program is intended to improve fencing skills with the goal of future competitive results on a college, national, and international level.
Food will be provided for the campers. Since this is a day camp at 3pm the students should either be picked up or of age to travel home. If you are interested in obtaining housing in NYC during the camp Coach Durkan can reserve rooms for you at the NYAC at discounted cost. No minor campers without supervision are welcome to stay overnight unless they are top in national points. (In this case they will be put with one of the NYAC families.)
Mid to high level fencers will be invited to attend Tuesday/Thursday/Friday (6pm-9pm) and Saturday (2pm-6pm) during the camp weeks space permitting.
Additional coaches will be hired based on camp registerations.
There is an additional fee of $50 per camper if applications and checks aren't received by November 1st. Please mail in applications and checks as early as possible so that I may plan for how many assistant coaches are necessary.

Due to overwhelming response Coach Durkan has decided to run our fifth annual summer camp. Since returning from Summer Nationals he has received many email's and phone messages about our summer camp (last one 36 campers attended) and has decided commit to 3 weeks of camp in August.
This summer Coach Durkan spent 4 days in SF running a pre-Summer Nationals Camp for Peninsula Fencing Academy where many of the campers went on to medal at summer nationals.
In addition Coach Durkan has revitalized the New York Athletic Club's Sabre program from the mere 4 fencers competing nationally in 2008 to the 50 plus competitive athletes currently involved in the program.
This year at Summer nationals three fencers medaled including the silver in Y14 MS as well as many making junior and cadet points.
This Summer program is not meant to be a social event! Only athletes interested improving fencing skills and with future competitive aspirations need apply.

Equipment Needed: Each fencer must bring his/her own fencing weapons, uniforms, body cords, underarm protector, vest, warmups, shoes, shorts, t-shirts, towel, water bottle, etc... Please bring working equipment.
